...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of central Illinois, east central Illinois, and west central Illinois, including the following areas, in central Illinois, Christian, De Witt, Logan, Macon, Marshall, Mason, McLean, Menard, Peoria, Piatt, Sangamon, Shelby, Stark, Tazewell, and Woodford. In east central Illinois, Moultrie. In west central Illinois, Cass, Fulton, Knox, Morgan, Schuyler, and Scott.

* Through late tonight

* Additional rainfall today and tonight over nearly saturated ground may lead to flash flooding across portions of central Illinois. Steady moderate to occasionally heavy rain will continue to overspread the region this morning. Soils are already near saturated for much of the area, especially along
and north of the Illinois River valley which has received heavy rainfall over the past several days. Strong thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall over a short period of time will return this evening and tonight. Up to a couple inches of rain are possible through late this evening along with locally higher
amounts.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
