SUMMARY:

*** UPDATE ***

Detectives conducted an extensive investigation to identify the two outstanding suspects involved in the Shell gas station robbery. As a result, Sara Lucas was identified as the getaway driver and Jason Steven Peters as the second suspect in the robbery.

Jason Peters is on active parole, and Lucas is on active formal felony probation.

On Friday, April 19, 2019, Lucas was taken into custody at the Central Detention Center, when she came to visit her boyfriend, Kevin Gilmer, at the jail.

On Sunday, May 5, 2019, Peters was arrested by deputies from the Highland Station after he was observed driving a stolen vehicle near a residence in the 26600 block of Cypress Street in the city of Highland.

On that date, detectives from the Rancho Cucamonga Station responded to that residence and executed a search warrant. During a search of the residence, evidence was located linking Peters to the robbery.

It was also found that all three suspects are active participants of a local white supremacist criminal street gang.

On May 9, 2019, the case was presented to the Rancho Cucamonga District Attorney’s Office for review. After their review of the case, the District Attorney filed multiple felony charges against all three suspects. They are all currently being held in custody in a San Bernardino County Jail, without bail.

All three suspects will be arraigned in Superior Court on Monday, May 13, 2019.

Detectives believe the suspects may be responsible for additional robberies in the Inland Empire and are releasing the booking photos of the suspects. On Wednesday, April 10, 2019, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a robbery at the Shell gas station. The victim reported two male suspects entered the business with handguns and demanded money. The store clerk complied and opened the cash register. The suspects took the money from the register along with several cartons of cigarettes. The two suspects drove away in a gray Honda Civic.

The incident was caught on camera and a description of both suspects was obtained. A record check of the license plate from the vehicle driven by the suspects revealed the vehicle was reported stolen. One suspect, identified as Kevin Gilmer, was later contacted in the same vehicle by deputies in San Bernardino. Rancho Cucamonga Police Department detectives served a search warrant at Gilmer’s residence in San Bernardino and seized evidence linking him to the Shell gas station robbery. Gilmer was arrested for vehicle theft and robbery. He was booked at the Central Detention Center where he remains in custody.

The second suspect is still outstanding and described as a white male adult, 6’ tall, and 180 lbs. He is seen wearing a flannel shirt and gray pants.
