WALDWICK COUNCIL COMMUNITY ROUNDTABLE

The next  in a series of Council Community Roundtables will take place on Saturday, May 11 at 10:00 am at the Waldwick Library in the George Fredricks Meeting Room.
 
Representatives of the Council will be present to provide an overview of recent activity and events. This month the Council will be represented by Councilman Paul Schatz and Councilwoman Deb Dellavechia. They will answer questions and address issues of concern.
 
Please note: The entire Council will not be present. No pre-registration is required. All walk-ins welcome.

REMINDER - COMMINGLED RECYLCING ONLY on Wednesday, May 15.  Plastics #1 & #2, glass bottles, and aluminum & tin cans.  MUST BE CURBSIDE BY 6:00 AM.  RECYCLING WILL NOT BE PICKED UP IF IT IS IN PLASTIC BAGS.  

WALDWICK MUNICIPAL POOL REGISTRATION LAST TWO WEEKS TO RECEIVE PRE-SEASON REGISTRATION PRICES - The Municipal Pool is located at the corner of Hopper Avenue and Prospect Street, next to The Oval.  Opening May 25, 2019 (weekends only) and June 22, 2019 (daily).  Pool hours are from 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm daily.  Weekends/Holidays from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm.  

Register early by downloading the membership form.  Avoid the lines and renew by mail.  Pool badges will also be available at the pool office during regular operating hours.  First time registration must be done in person.   If you are renewing, please enter your tag number on the form.  Add $10 to fees below if received after Friday, May 24, 2019.

Guest over the age of eighteen (18) years may obtain a guest permit for $10.00 per day per guest, provided that such guest is in the company of a holder of a seasonal tag.  

Guest under the age of eighteen (18) years may obtain a guest permit for $8.00 per day per guest, provided that such guest is in the company of a holder of a seasonal tag.  

WALDWICK SUMMER TENNIS PROGRAM - The Borough of Waldwick is proud to provide tennis lessons this summer at the Waldwick Tennis Courts in Veteran's Park. All grade levels (K-12) are welcome to sign up as programs are designed specifically for each age group. The Tennis Camp will run from June 24-August 2 Monday-Friday and you will be able to sign up for the full summer program or individual weeks.

YOGA IN THE PARK SUMMER PROGRAM is back for its 3rd year!  Yoga in the Park combines three ancient practices - Yoga, Qi Gong, and Meditation. Classes include movement to help improve the body's flexibility and strength and meditation and breath work to help quiet the mind and release stress! Classes will be geared toward beginners,  with more advanced movement available for experienced yoga practitioners.  The meditation practice is perfect for all levels!
 
The program will take place on Sunday mornings from 9:15 am - 10:15 am during the summer months of July and August.  Eight (8) classes will be led by Waldwick resident and certified Yoga and Qi Gong Instructor, Karen Livanos-Centauro at Waldwick’s Borough Park Pavilion A, located at the Park entrance. Participation Requirements: **You are required to bring your own yoga mat, water and towel. Come 15 minutes early for set up.  Wear comfortable clothing and eat lightly prior to class.  Registrations and program fees can be mailed to Waldwick Boro Hall, 63 Franklin Turnpike, Waldwick, NJ 07463.  Drop In’s can bring their Registration form and $5 cash on the day of class.

WALDWICK SOCCER ASSOCIATION OPENS REGISTRATION FOR FALL 2019 - Registration for the Fall 2019 Soccer Season is OPEN.  Register online at www.waldwicksoccer.org & click on registration.

Waldwick Girls & Boys starting in kindergarten this fall through high school  are eligible to play in this program.  To avoid late fees register before May 31.  Deadline to Register is July 15 or when teams reach capacity whichever comes first.

Volunteer Coaches Needed
The soccer program needs volunteer coaches.  To be considered as a coach, you must register as an adult.  Register today and become part of the tradition of Waldwick Soccer!

Refs Needed
The WSA offers students & adults the opportunity to officiate in-town games.  Students 14+ are eligible.  Referees must attend a pre-season training session.  Referees will be paid for each game they officate.  If you want more information on becoming a WSA ref, email [email protected].  

WALWICK COMMUNITY ALLIANCE 11TH ANNUAL CAR SHOW & LIVE MUSIC CONCERT Sunday June 2, 2019 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm at the Waldwick Railroad Station, 4 Hewson Avenue.  In addition, the restored, historic Waldwick Railroad Station will be open during the Car Show hours featuring its latest exhibit celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Borough of Waldwick. 
 
The Annual Car Show and Live Music Concert is a $5.00 admission for adults and children over 12.  Children under 12 are admitted free.  Bring out the entire family and see all the different cars, trucks and bikes that will be on display.

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE & CEREMONY - Monday, May 27 with parade starting promptly at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial Service.  All are invited back to the American Legion Hall after the events for hot dogs. 

The American Legion is collecting donations to send a care package to Waldwick Service Members currently serving in the military overseas.

CLOTHING DRIVE sponsored by the WALDWICK MUSIC PARENTS/ WALDWICK HS BANDS, Saturday, May 18 from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm at Waldwick High School - Upper Parking lot, 155 Wyckoff Avenue.

WALDWICK WELLNESS DAY - In celebration of National EMS Week, WALVAC is hosting the Second Annual Waldwick Wellness Day on May 19 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm at the Train Station.  This is a community event aimed at promoting healthy living and providing local resources that the community can access.  There will be games and crafts for kids, tours of our ambulances, giveaways and display tables where residents can interact with local businesses and public health orgnaizations.

Follow in the footsteps of the Beatles as they embark on their historic journey starting from their early days as a cover band in Liverpool and Hamburg, into the excitement of Beatlemania, including performances and films thru their creative groundbreaking studio albums. Coming full circle, we will explore the highlights of each individual’s post Beatles work.
