Members of the Newark Police Division joined police officers from New York and New Jersey to participate in the 2019 Police Unity Tour, an annual 320-mile bicycle ride to raise public awareness of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty and those who have performed valiant acts of bravery.

A kick-off ceremony was held yesterday at 22 Franklin Street, in honor of the families of fallen Newark Police officers, including Police Officer Ray Arocha, End of Watch 2014; Detective Michael Morgan, End of Watch 2011; Police Officer Dewey Sherbo III, End of Watch 1997; Detective John Sczyrek, End of Watch 1993; Police Officer John Gottfried, End of Watch, 1980; Detective John Gottfried, End of Watch, 1980; Police Officer Jack Woomer, End of Watch 1957; and Detective Thomas Adubato, End of Watch 1918.

Following the ride, police officers from around the country will convene at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, May 12th.
