On May 1, 2019 at 1130 hours, the El Cerrito Police Department responded to a bomb threat at the El Cerrito High School. El Cerrito Police partnered with school administrators to assist in student evacuations. With the assistance of BART Police K-9 teams, a systematic search was conducted of the campus and no explosive devices were located. The El Cerrito Police Department declared the school safe and students were allowed to return to campus later that afternoon. El Cerrito Police will continue to collaborate with school officials to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the El Cerrito Community.
