Police presence: we are currently at the Regency Inn on Newport Blvd. due to a barricaded subject with a knife. Crisis Negotiations Team and SWAT, CM Fire & Rescue on scene.
The male subject made suicide threats is in one of the first floor rooms in the hotel. Has a knife. Smoke was seen coming from the room but no fire. We are in contact with the subject seeking a safe resolution.

Street closure - NB Newport Blvd. between Fair/Del Mar and Monte Vista Ave. is closed to traffic. Please avoid the area and find alternate routes.
