Police Activity in the area of 23rd Ave / 24th Ave between Alameda and Isabelle - Situation is now clear - normal activity may resume

UPDATE: 
At about 1:45 pm this afternoon, SMPD was alerted to a possible stolen vehicle located with an associated person in the 2300 block of Alameda de las Pulgas. Upon officers' arrival, the vehicle was on the scene, but the subject associated with it had disappeared. Officers immediately set a perimeter and began conducting yard-to-yard searches, along with a canvass of residential security video, to attempt to locate the associated subject. Evidence at the scene indicated the possibility of additional theft activity, so officers on the scene used all available personnel and resources to attempt to locate the subject. Following an exhaustive area search, officers were unable to locate the subject. SMPD has taken the related stolen vehicle and other evidence from the area, and the investigation continues. 

EARLIER MESSAGE:
San Mateo Police Department has a perimeter set between 23rd and 24th Avenues from Alameda de las Pulgas to Isabelle. Officers are searching the area for a white male suspect related to a stolen vehicle and possible burglary. SMPD will provide updates when they are available.
