The search for Duke Flores has resumed this morning at the Victorville landfill

SUSPECTS:             Jackee Raquel Contreras, age 29; Jennifer Rachel Contreras, age 29 both residents of Apple Valley
 
VICTIM:                      Duke Flores, age 6 a resident of Apple Valley

Search efforts at the Victorville landfill have resumed. Homicide Detectives, 9 Sheriff’s Department volunteers, 2 search dogs and 12 additional Sheriff’s Department personnel will continue searching approximately 1200 tons of material.

Search efforts at the Victorville landfill have been suspended for the day.  Homicide Detectives, 17 Sheriff’s Department volunteers, 3 search dogs, and 12 additional Sheriff’s Department personnel have been searching with the assistance of landfill personnel.  The area being searched is approximately 70 feet x 70 feet x 10 feet in depth, approximately 1200 tons of material.  The search for Duke Flores will resume in the morning, Friday, May 3rd.

The search has resumed at the Victorville landfill for the body of Duke Flores.  Homicide detectives, 17 Sheriff’s Department volunteers, 3 search dogs, 12 additional Sheriff’s Department employees, and personnel from the landfill will continue to sift through 1200 tons of material in hopes of finding him.

The search has resumed at the Victorville landfill for the body of Duke Flores. Homicide detectives, 19 Sheriff’s Department volunteers, 2 search dogs, 15 additional Sheriff’s Department employees, and personnel from the landfill will continue to sift through material in hopes of finding him.

Search efforts at the Victorville landfill have been suspended for the day.  Homicide Detectives, 36 Sheriff’s Department volunteers, 3 canines, and 17 additional Sheriff’s Department personnel have been searching with the assistance of landfill personnel.  The area being search is approximately 70 feet x 70 feet x 10 feet in depth, approximately 600 tons of material. 
 
The search for Duke Flores will resume in the morning, Tuesday, April 30th.
 
UPDATE:  Monday, April 29th at 7:15 am
 
Homicide Detectives, Sheriff’s department volunteers, and landfill personnel are actively searching the landfill in Victorville for the body of Duke Flores.  Following investigative leads, detectives believe that Duke was placed in a dumpster.  Detectives are now working with personnel at the landfill in hopes of recovering his body.
 
The investigation is ongoing, additional information will be released as it becomes available.

On Thursday, April 25th, at approximately 10:06 pm, deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to a residence in the 22000 block of Cherokee Avenue following the request for a welfare check from a family member on the victim, Duke Flores.  Upon arrival, deputies were told by the suspect, Jackee Contreras that Duke had not been seen for approximately two weeks.  Deputies immediately began a search of the area.  Jackee Contreras was arrested, transported and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Child Neglect for her delay in reporting him missing.  Jackee Contreras was later transferred to the West Valley Detention Center.
 
On Friday, April 26th, detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.  The search continued for Duke and K9 units were requested and responded to the location.  Detectives gathered evidence and conducted multiple interviews throughout the day with family members.  On Saturday, April 27th, Homicide Detectives interviewed Jackee Contreras and at the conclusion of her interview she was booked for PC 187 Murder and is being held without bail.
 
On Saturday, April 27th, detectives arrested Jennifer Contreras (Duke’s aunt), transported and booked her into the High Desert Detention Center for PC 187 Murder and is being held without bail.   
 
The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are continuing the search for Duke Flores.
