Tobacco is changing. Sweet flavors. Most don't look like cigarettes. The new generation of addictive products is here.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is attempting to enlighten residents of Wisconsin in regards to how “Tobacco is changing”.  The conventional cigarette is still around and tobacco is available to adults in many forms.  But, what about our youth? Possession of tobacco is still illegal and more concerning is the effects tobacco has on their health at such a young age.  Tobacco use by juveniles can be a lifelong problem that many adult smokers who wish to quit understand.

E-cigarettes is the latest revolution in tobacco products and now one of the biggest threats to the health of children.  While traditional cigarette use has dropped, e-cigarette use has skyrocketed among young people.  The ability to use tobacco in the e-cigarette world comes in many disguises but it still involves tobacco and is illegal for youth to have in their possession.

Fast facts about Tobacco:

  •  E-cigarettes are more popular than conventional cigarettes among Wisconsin teens.
  • The first tobacco product most kids try is flavored.
  • Nicotine may cause memory and attention problems in a child’s growing brain.
  • 4 out of 5 kids who’ve used tobacco tried a flavored product first.
Take a moment and talk to your children about the dangers of tobacco and the fact that they can’t possess it.  For more information, please click https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/tobaccoischanging/index.htm”.
