The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for... Southern Wayne County in southeastern Michigan...
* Until 645 AM EDT.
* At 249 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain falling across the warned area. Up to two iand one half inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Taylor, Romulus, Flat Rock, Downtown Detroit, Canton, Dearborn, Wyandotte, Trenton, Grosse Ile, Belleville, Greenfield Village, Westland, Dearborn Heights, Lincoln Park, Southgate, Allen Park, Garden City, Inkster, Wayne and Woodhaven. This includes the following highways... I-75 between mile markers 30 and 50. I-275 between mile markers 8 and 24. I-96 between mile markers 191 and 192. M-10 between mile markers 1 and 2. M-39 between mile markers 6 and 7.
* AFFECTED AREAS: WAYNE, MI
Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
