Flash Flood Watch until 11:00AM Wednesday

Recent widespread rainfall has saturated soils across the region resulting in a potential for rapid runoff. With additional waves of locally heavy rainfall spreading through the area this afternoon and potentially again overnight, the threat for localized flash flooding exists. The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Illinois and Indiana, including the following areas, in Illinois, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, La Salle, Lee, Livingston, and Will. In Indiana, Benton, Jasper, Lake IN, Newton, and Porter.

* Through Wednesday morning

* An additional 1 to 2 inches of rain are possible on top of already saturated soils.

* Localized flash flooding, poor drainage and lowland flooding will be possible, along with rises on rivers, streams, creeks, and retention ponds.

* AFFECTED AREAS: NEWTON ... KENDALL ... BENTON ... LA SALLE ... FORD ... KANKAKEE ... COOK ... DUPAGE ... LAKE ... KANE ... PORTER ... WILL ... IROQUOIS ... GRUNDY ... DE KALB ... LEE ... LIVINGSTON ... JASPER

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
