Fatal Hit & Run Traffic Collision

On Monday, April 29, 2019, at approximately 8:40 PM, Torrance Police Officers responded to the intersection of Del Amo Boulevard and Mariner Avenue regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
 
The preliminary investigation reveals a pedestrian was walking south across Del Amo Boulevard and Mariner Avenue in the crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle travelling east in the number two lane on a green light. The driver of the vehicle fled the location.
 
The suspect vehicle is described as a blue or grey Honda 4-door sedan with front end damage.  
 
The pedestrian, an 81-year-old male, sustained major injuries and was treated by Torrance Fire Department personnel at the scene, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.  The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification to a next of kin.
 
The intersection of Del Amo Boulevard and Mariner Avenue will be temporarily closed during the follow-up investigation.
