Fatal DUI Collision in San Anselmo - location updated

A San Anselmo man was arrested last night for Felony DUI Causing Death after he struck and killed a pedestrian and dog.

On Saturday evening, April 27, 2019 at approximately 10:00 pm, the Marin County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a vehicle had hit a pedestrian in the 300 block of Butterfield Road near Caletta Avenue. A female pedestrian walking with two dogs was struck by a car. The pedestrian suffered major injuries and died shortly afterwards. One of the dogs was also killed and the other suffered injuries. The second dog was transported by Marin County Humane officers for treatment. The victim’s identity will be provided later by the Marin County Coroner.

The Central Marin Police Traffic Unit and Investigations Unit conducted the accident investigation. CHP officers assisted with traffic control and closing the roadway. Butterfield Road was closed for several hours in both directions while the scene was processed.

The driver, James Boswell, age 30, was arrested at the scene. He was booked at Marin County Jail on charges of Felony DUI and Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated. His bail was set at $500,000.
