Montebello man arrested after high speed chase with the Pomona Police.
On Sunday, April 28, 2019, around 0015 hours, the Pomona Police Department received a call of a man with a knife. Officers arrived on scene as the suspect was leaving the area. They attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the suspect fled immediately.
The pursuit continued through Pomona and Montclair, on the freeway and on surface streets. During the pursuit, the suspect reached speeds of 100 mph and on two separate ocassions, the suspect drove the wrong way on the freeway. During the pursuit, the suspect was using his vehicle as a weapon and ramming police cars. Three police cars were hit during the chase. The pursuit continued for about 20 minutes before coming to end when the suspect's vehicle became disabled due to front tire coming off. The suspect fled on foot and ran up the embankment of the IS10 and 57 freeway interchange. With the assistance of police helicopters from El Monte, Pasadena and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the suspect was located. Air support was able to lead officers to the suspect's location.
The suspect was taken into custody by Pomona officers. There were no injuries to officers or citizens during this incident.
Suspect Guerrero was booked at the Pomona City Jail on the above indicated charges.
