WEATHER ALERT - STRONG STORMS THREAT 2 PM - 8PM TODAY
Scattered showers & storms will continue through the rest of the day with some lulls/breaks in the activity also expected. Gusty winds over 40 mph will be possible with these storms, but otherwise the main severe threat will hold off until later this afternoon. A line of strong thunderstorms is expected to move through the area between 6 - 8 PM. These storms will be weakening as they traverse central NJ, but some areas (favored to the west in Mercer Co.) could see a few wind gusts 50+ mph with the strongest storms. In addition to the wind threat, we can't rule out a brief tornado in the broader region. The poor drainage flood threat will remain localized and should really only exist for the most vulnerable urban locations toward Trenton. This will be due to a fast storm motion that should move the line east of the area around 8 PM.
