4th Precinct Community Service Officer A. Porter shares his recent participation in West Side High School’s “Lights On” program, which gives students the opportunity to engage in positive activities from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday nights at the school. Last week’s program was held on Thursday in observation of Good Friday. Officer Porter is seeking to bridge the communication gap to build trust with area teens.

Officer Porter also conducted a Community Walk on South 16th Street and South Orange Avenue on Sunday, April 21st. As part of the walk, he greeted community members by going door to door, speaking with residents and business owners about ways the community can form a Neighborhood Block Watch and how the Newark Police Division will play a vital role in that effort.
