Lawrence Township News for the Upcoming Week

MUNICIPAL OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED ON FRIDAY, APRIL 19, IN OBSERVANCE OF GOOD FRIDAY.


Trash will be collected on Friday, April 19, as regularly scheduled.


The Ecological Facility will be closed on Friday, April 19. However, It will be open on Saturday, April 20.




Sewer Bills - Sewer bill payments are due in the Tax Collector's Office by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25th in order to avoid a late fee.




Memorial Day Observance - Join us for the Lawrence Township Memorial Day Parade on Saturday, May 25th! Please click here to view the event flyer. If you would like to participate in this year's parade, please click here to fill out a registration form. Lawrence High School, Lawrence Township Recreation Department and the Lawrence Township Patriotic Committee would like to invite all Lawrence Township Veterans to come and enjoy a free breakfast on May 24, 2019. The breakfast will take place from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at the Lawrence High School Cafeteria, 2525 Princeton Pike, Lawrence, N.J. 2019 Safety Town Program
Attention Parents of Fall 2019 Kindergartners! The Lawrence Township Recreation and Police Department are pleased to announce registration for the 2019 Safety Town Program. This year's program will be held at Ben Franklin Elementary School beginning Monday, June 24 and will run through Wednesday, July 3 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Safety Town is available to the fall 2019 incoming kindergartners. There will be trips to the police and fire departments, visits by other professionals and different fun-filled experiences for the students. The staff will instruct the students about safety around the home, school bus, fire safety, how to make a 911 emergency telephone call and many other important safety lessons. Trenton Water Works Public Education Forum Has Been Rescheduled - The Lawrence Township Forum has been rescheduled to Wednesday, May 15 between 7:00 and 9:00 pm at the Lawrence Township Senior Center. Press Release.




Arbor Day Activity - The Lawrence Township Shade Tree Advisory Committee will conduct an Arbor Day planting Saturday, April 27 at 9 am at Meadow Woods Park along the Lawrence Hopewell Trail. Parking is available in the trailhead lot on Princeton Pike opposite Foxcroft Drive. Twelve Dawn Redwoods will be planted to continue the line of trees previously planted on the trail. Mulch Delivery Program - Beginning April 22 and continuing through May 17, 2019, the Public Works Department will deliver natural ground wood chips to your driveway. Click here for all the details.




NJDEP Offers Safety Tips as Bears Leave Their Dens in Search of Food: It is important for residents who live in "bear country" to be aware of steps they can take to reduce chances of bears coming onto their property. Please see Press Release. Additional information can be found on the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection website.




Message from the Department of Public Works:

The Township recently revised the brush collection regulations effective January 1, 2019. (Ordinance No. 2307-18)
 

NEW YARD WASTE COLLECTION RULES

Brush will continue to be picked up according to the zone schedule. Please refer to the Zone Map below.

  • Brush should be placed at curbside no earlier than the weekend prior to the scheduled pickup week
  • Yard waste shall be placed along the front yard curb of the property which it has originated for collection.
  • Collection will be limited to brush and tree prunings.
  • Tree trunks and limbs in excess of 6 inch diameter will not be collected.
  • Limbs should be cut in lengths of 3 feet or less.
  • All limbs and brush should be placed at the curb in an orderly manner.
  • The size of the pile may not be larger than 3 feet high and must be placed not greater than 4 feet from the edge of the pavement. The pile shall not exceed 12 feet in length.
  • No wire, nails or metal should be left in the materials.
  • Diseased material and firewood will not be collected and disposed of by the Township. This material must be disposed of privately.
  • All tree stumps are the homeowner’s responsibility. The Township will not collect tree stumps.


BRUSH WILL NOT BE PICKED UP IF THE ABOVE RULES ARE NOT FOLLOWED.

All commercial landscapers shall be registered annually with the
Township of Lawrence by March 31st.

There is no brush collection during November and December, leaf collection only.

If you are unsure about your Zone, check the Zone Map.

The week of April 22 is Zone 4.

If you have any yard waste, you may take it to the Ecological Facility on Princeton Pike between the hours of 7:30 am and 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  The Ecological Facility is now open on Saturdays.
