Flash Flood Watch until 10:00PM Thursday

A cold front will move into Arkansas by late tonight and will reach the Mississippi River by late Thursday afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms will develop across the region by late tonight and continue into Thursday. Locally heavy rainfall could produce flash flooding starting after midnight tonight and continuing into Thursday. The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of North Mississippi and West Tennessee, including the following areas, in North Mississippi, Alcorn, Benton, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee, Marshall, Monroe, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo, and Union. In West Tennessee, Fayette, Hardeman, Hardin, and McNairy.

* From Thursday morning through Thursday evening

* Over 2 inches of rain is possible across the watch area with isolated higher amounts.

* Street flooding will be a hazard for motorists. Low-lying and poor drainage areas will be at risk for flash flooding, as well as small streams.
