Update on Attempted Armed Robbery/Gunshot wound:
The Janesville Police Department is actively investigating this shooting. We were able to determine that the victim in this shooting provided false information that the shooting occurred outside of his residence. A search warrant was drafted for the victim's residence, and the scene of the shooting was determined to be inside the victim's residence.

On 4-17-19 at 1:03AM Janesville Police were sent to the 400 block of N. Terrace for a subject with a gunshot wound. Upon investigation officers found a 48 yr old male resident at 441 N. Terrace St. with a gunshot wound to his hand. The victim stated a person tried to rob him at gunpoint. The victim and suspect struggled over the gun resulting in the gun being discharged into the victim’s hand. The victim claims the suspect fled the area on foot. Officers set up a perimeter and conducted a K9 track with no find on the suspect. The victim appears to have been targeted and there is no danger to the public. The victim was transported to Mercy Hospital where he was treated and released. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
