Steven Maine of Yucaipa is arrested for Felony Evading and Felony Vandalism

INCIDENT: CVC 2800.2 Felony Evading and PC 594 Felony Vandalism
LOCATION: 12000 block of California Street, Yucaipa
SUSPECT: Steven Maine, age 27 a resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On Monday, April 15, 2019, deputies from the Yucaipa Police Department responded to a call of a vandalism that occurred at the victim's residence. The victim reported that an unknown subject threw a large rock through the front door of her residence. The investigating deputy parked his vehicle across the street and began his investigation, eventually returning to his car to complete paperwork. While the deputy was seated in his marked sheriff's vehicle, the suspect returned and stopped across the street from the deputy. The suspect did not notice the deputy or his car and threw an additional rock through a window of the victim's home, then sped away.
The deputy attempted to stop the susepct, but the driver failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The driver ran several stop signs, pulled into an apartment complex in the 34000 block of Avenue A and the driver fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the driver was captured. The driver was identified as Steven Maine, who is currently on felony probation for PC 245 (A)(4) Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The investigation revealed that the suspect did not know the victim of the vandlism.
Maine was booked into Central Detention Center for CVC 2800.2 Felony Evading and PC 594 Felony Vandalism. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
