The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Central Alamance County in central North Carolina... Orange County in central North Carolina...

* Until 530 PM EDT

* At 424 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm showing signs of broad rotation was located near Graham, moving northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts, heavy rainfall, and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This line of storms have a history of producing wind damage in the form of downed trees and powerlines.

* Locations impacted include... Chapel Hill, Burlington, Graham, Hillsborough, Carrboro, Mebane, Haw River, Swepsonville, Carr and Efland.

* AFFECTED AREAS: ORANGE, NC ... ALAMANCE, NC

Instructions:

Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris generated by damaging winds can be deadly. Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. This storm may cause serious injury and significant property damage. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
