WALDWICK COUNCIL-COMMUNITY ROUNDTABLE - The next in a series of Council-Community Roundtables will take place Saturday, April 13 at 10:00 am at the Waldwick Library in the George Fredricks Meeting Room.  Councilman Don Sciolaro and Councilwoman Nicole McNamara will be available to provide an overview of recent activities and events as well as answer your questions and address your concerns.

Please note:  The entire Council will not be present as that is not permitted by State law.  No pre-registration is required.  All walk-ins welcome.

WALDWICK EDUCATION FOUNDATION TOWNWIDE GARAGE SALE - April 13 & 14, 9am to 4pm  Love a Bargain?  This event is for you!  Gather your bags and shop all weekend in town!

Clothing Drive Fundraiser

After the Garage Sale Waldwick Music Parents will be happy to accept clothing items that don't sell for their clothing drive in May.  Email [email protected] if you need anything picked up.

TOUCH A TRUCK EVENT AT CRESCENT SCHOOL - Crescent School's first ever TOUCH-A-TRUCK fundraiser being held Saturday, April 13 from 10:30 am - 2:30 pm at Crescent Elementary School.  Entrance fee is $10 per family and $2 for each activity/food.  There will be face painting, glitter tattoos, food and the Easter Bunny.  Please show your support to the Crescent School as all proceeds will go to Crescent School Backyard Renovations Project.

PBA EASTER EGG HUNT - Allendale/Waldwick PBA is holding the 25th Annual Christopher Goodell Memorial Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 14 in Borough Park.  Arrive before 8:40 am, starts promptly at 9:00 am.  Parking is limited with additional parking on Hopper Avenue in Municipal Pool Lot.  See flyer for details.

BASEBALL/SOFTBALL OPENING DAY - Saturday, April 13 - 9:00 am at Borough Park

WALDWICK STIGMA-FREE EVENT - The Waldwick Stigma-Free Task Force and Minding Your Mind present “Just Talk About It,” an interactive suicide prevention presentation designed to promote factual knowledge, encourage discussion, ease communication and enlighten parents and community members to the warning signs of mental health issues in adolescents and teens. The event will take place Monday, April 15th, 2019, 7:00 pm, Waldwick High School Little Theater, 155 Wyckoff Avenue.  This program is for adults only and is open to the public.

YARD WASTE PICKUP WILL BEGIN TUESDAY, APRIL 16 - The collection schedule is listed below.  Please be aware of the following information: 

  • Leaves can be mixed with grass and must be put out the night before pickup in a trash can or brown yard waste bags.
     
  • All brush and branches must be put in cans placed curbside the night before pick up.  A maximum of 4 containers/cans up to 50 lbs. will be picked up per collection day.
     
  • Yard waste in plastic bags will NOT be accepted/collected.  All yard waste must be in cans/containers or brown yard waste bags.
     
  • The Borough will not pick up yard waste left on the ground.   Resident can bring yard waste to the Recycling Center during normal business hours. (Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 3:00 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am - 1:00 pm - located at 19 Industrial Way)

SCHEDULE

Tuesdays:  North of East Prospect Street to Allendale/Saddle River border; all streets from Franklin Turnpike to Nordham Street, not including Franklin Turnpike.

Wednesdays:  Both sides of Crescent Avenue to the Wyckoff border and the area east of Route 17 North.

Thursdays:  Both sides of Franklin Turnpike to Crescent Avenue to the Wyckoff border and the area east of Route 17 North.

Fridays:  Both sides of East Prospect Street to Ho-Ho-Kus border, all streets between Nordham Street to Route 17 South. (Please note Fridays first pick up will be Friday, April 26 due to Good Friday holiday observance)

WALDWICK WELLNESS DAY - In celebration of National EMS Week, WALVAC is hosting the Second Annual Waldwick Wellness Day on May 19 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm at the Train Station.  This is a community event aimed at promoting healthy living and providing local resources that the community can access.  There will be games and crafts for kids, tours of our ambulances, giveaways and display tables where residents can interact with local businesses and public health orgnaizations.

WALDWICK SWIM TEAM - Waldwick Swim Team Registration will be held on Thursday, May 2 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Waldwick Ambulance Building, 20 Whites Lane.  See flyer for details.

Cupcake Wars For Grades 5-8
Thursday, April 18, 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Join us for our Cupcake Wars competition! 4 themed rounds will determine who is victorious in this epic battle! Grades 5-8 to compete. Teams may have 2 or 3 members. If you do not have a team we will match you with one at the event.

CERT CLASSES OFFERED - The 2019 Spring Basic CERT Class will be starting on May 2, 2019. It will be hosted at the Paramus Life Safety Complex. Please join us at CrossFit Waldwick as we recognize our community's fallen Hero, and dedicate a "Hero" Workout in his honor.  After the dedication ceremony, we will be running heats of this "Hero" Workout for anyone in attendance to participate in. We will also be selling t-shirts commemorating Officer Goodell. All proceeds go to the Christopher Goodell Scholarship Fund.

We are collecting a package of items to send to three Waldwick residents who are serving overseas.  There is a box set up at the Legion. Please donate any items including:  Drink mix, gum, toothbrush/toothpaste, toiletries, batteries, energy bars, sunflower seeds, pen/paper/envelopes, books/magazines, beef jerky/slim jims, baby wipes, condiments, playing cards…

                                   **TRAFFIC ALERT**

Starting April 18  Sheridan Avenue in Waldwick and West Saddle River Road in Saddle River are going to be milled and paved. The work zone  is from East Allendale Avenue in Saddle River, south to East Prospect Street in Waldwick. The work will start at 7:00 A.M. and end at 5:00 P.M.
 
On April 18, 19 & 24 Sheridan Avenue will be closed to North bound traffic at Lower Cross Road and detoured around to East Allendale Road. Allowing only residents access into the work zone.
 
On April 20 & 21 The road will be open to all traffic. The roadway will be milled and not a smooth paved surface.
 
On April 22 & 25 Sheridan Avenue will be closed to North bound traffic at East Prospect Street and be detoured around to East Allendale Avenue. Allowing only residents access into the work zone.
 
On all the work days West Saddle River Road will be closed at East Allendale Avenue to south bound traffic and will be detoured around to Sheridan Avenue. Allowing only residents access into the work zone.
 
** The scheduled dates of the work may change due to inclement weather.**

COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 7:30 pm, Administration Building, Council Chambers, 63 Franklin Turnpike. BOROUGH OFFICES will be CLOSED on Friday, April 19 in observance of Good Friday.
