Duarte Crime Blotter for the Week of March 24 - March 30, 2019

Dear Duarte Community: 

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of March 24 thru 30, 2019        

 
March 24, 2019
  • No significant activity.         
 
March 25, 2019
  • A Vehicle Burglary was reported in the parking lot of “Anytime Fitness” at 2217 Huntington Drive.  Sometime between 4:15 am and 5:00 am, person’s unknown smashed the right rear window and stole a bag containing tire chains.
  • Two Vehicle Burglaries were reported in the same apartment complex in the 1300 block of Royal Oaks Drive.  Sometime between 2:00 pm on March 24thand 7:30 am on the 25th, person’s unknown shattered the driver’s side windows to the vehicles and stole approximately $50 in clothing from one of the vehicles.  The Interior of the second vehicle was ransacked, but nothing appeared to be missing. 
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1600 Mountain Avenue (Wal-Mart).  The store manager was reviewing store surveillance from the previous night, when he observed that an adult male had selected a $300 bicycle and fled the store through the rear emergency door.  The investigation is on-going.  
 
March 26, 2019
  • A Vehicle Burglary was reported in the “99 Cent” parking lot at 1327 Huntington Drive. Unknown person’s shattered the front passenger window and stole a backpack from the passenger floorboard. A Passerby stated a gold Chrysler 300  with three males were standing by the vehicle, but did not actually see anyone break into the vehicle.    
            
March 27, 2019
  • A Grand Theft was reported in the 1900 block of Huntington Drive.  At approximately 7:30 am, the victim was leaving his home, when he ran back inside for a minute, leaving his wallet with $2,000 in the unlocked vehicle.  Even though the vehicle was in his attached garage, the garage door was left open allowing someone to enter the garage and stealing the wallet. 
  • A Petty Theft was reported in the 1700 block of Second Street.  The victim was returning home when he observed two male adults walking eastbound from his carrying a portable speaker and a jacket. The two males entered a white Honda Accord and drove away.  Approximately twenty minutes later, the victim went to his vehicle which was parked on the street just east of his house, and realized his portable speaker and jacket were missing.  There were no signs of forced entry into the vehicle.  The investigation is on-going.   
 March 28, 2019
  • No significant activity.
 
March 29, 2019
  • A Vehicle Burglary was reported in the 1900 block of Huntington Drive.  A city Community Services Officer saw a vehicle parked along the north curb line with its rear hatch open, and miscellaneous items scattered on the pavement.  Deputies located the victim and determined that several boxes of collectables had been stolen overnight.  Entry to the vehicle was made by removing the driver’s side lock. The loss was estimated at approximately $1,000. 
  •  A Vehicle Burglary was reported in the 3400 block of Markwood Street.  Sometime between 9:30 am on the 28thand 7:00 am on the 29th, person’s unknown removed the front driver’s side door lock, and stole over $4,000 in plumbing tools and miscellaneous personal items.    
 
March 30, 2019
  • Shoplifting Arrest:  Deputies responded to “Target) 1050 Huntington drive, regarding a petty theft call. They contacted store security who advised them that an adult female placed a tent, a piece of luggage and a bottle of Tylenol in her basket and walked out of the store without paying for the items.  The female admitted to stealing the items and was arrested for shoplifting.  The suspect was a resident of Rialto.
