On Monday, 04/08/19, at approximately 7:00am, members of the Daly City Police Department were dispatched to the 900 Block of Schwerin Street in Daly City on the report of a loose dog attacking a subject. Upon arrival, officers immediately located the area of the incident and observed a dog actively involved in the attack of an adult male isolated in a rear yard. Officers on scene, fearing for the safety of the injured male, fired their duty weapons to stop the threat.
After securing the scene, officers started life saving measures on the victim. The 30-year-old adult male was transported to a local hospital and is in critical but stable condition. Members of our Investigations Division are currently interviewing the owner of the involved dog.
At this point, there is no threat to public safety.
