Abdul Coleman is arrested in connection with several burglaries, detectives believe there may be additional victims

INCIDENT: Commercial Burglaries
LOCATIONS: Seven businesses on Yucaipa Blvd, Yucaipa; Additional businesses in Beaumont and Banning
SUSPECT:Robert Abdul Coleman, 27 years old, resident of Hemet
SUMMARY: On April 6, 2019, beginning at approximately 3:30 am, Yucaipa Police responded to several burglar alarms and discovered a suspect forcibly burglarized numerous business. In total, seven closed businesses located on Yucaipa Blvd were burglarized by the suspect. The victim businesses includes; The Party Pantry, AT&T Store, Abby’s Café, Las Tortas Mexican Restaurant, La Mexicana Restaurant, Yucaipa Dance and The Fat Greek.
Yucaipa detectives immediately assumed the investigation and collected evidence that led to the identification of the suspect, Robert Coleman. After following leads around the Inland Empire for a full day, detectives determined Coleman was living in the city of Hemet and obtained an arrest warrant for Coleman and a search warrant for his home. At approximately 3:45 am, detectives assisted by Hemet Police Department served the search warrant and Coleman was taken into custody without incident.
During their investigation, detectives learned Coleman also burglarized numerous locations in Beaumont and Banning and suspect he may have burglarized other businesses throughout the Inland Empire. During the April 6th crimes, Coleman was driving a silver BMW X5 SUV with California plate 7DWZ165. Coleman made entry to the businesses by smashing doors and windows with a sledgehammer. Photos of Coleman, both at the Yucaipa crime scenes and at the time of booking, plus photos of Coleman’s vehicle, are being released as possible investigative leads for other victims and surrounding agencies.
Coleman was booked at the Central Detention Center for PC 459, Commercial Burglary. He is being held in lieu of $100,000.00 bail.
