Arrest of El Cerrito Homicide Suspect

PRESS RELEASE

APRIL 7, 2019

Since March 30th, Detectives from the El Cerrito Police Department have been working diligently to collect evidence, interview persons, and follow up on leads on the murder of Larry Lawson, Sr. A photo taken from video surveillance was circulated throughout bay area police agencies of a possible suspect who was quickly identified by a BART police officer as Richmond resident, Michael Ray Hill. That same BART Police Officer later found Hill at the Richmond BART station on April 6th and detained him. Hill was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department where he was booked for murder and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

The El Cerrito Police Department would like to thank our community partners who shared their personal or business video surveillance recordings with us which aided in the identification of the suspect in this case. The El Cerrito Police Department would also like to thank our law enforcement partners for their assistance in this investigation.
