On Sunday, April 7, 2019 around 1:33 AM, members of the Pomona Police Department's Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) and the California Highway Patrol were partnered up, and working a gang suppression detail within the City of Pomona. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Phillips Blvd. and Rebecca Street for a vehicle code violation. Upon contact, the passenger, later identified as suspect Contreras, was found to be on probation. During a probation search, Contreras was found to be in possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm and heroin. He was arrested and booked on the above charges.
