Three in Custody for Auto Burglary

Tonight, March 27, 2019, San Mateo Police Department officers were conducting an auto burglary suppression detail based on recent auto burglaries, patrolling all recent hot spots.

They received information of a vehicle burglary at about 8pm in the 4300 block of Olympic Avenue. A description of the suspect vehicle was provided by an observant member of the public, and very soon after, SMPD’s burglary suppression team locate the possible suspect vehicle in the Marina Plaza Shopping Center in the Los Prados area.

As officers closed in, the suspect fled, and led officers on a chase that took them across the San Mateo Bridge and into an unincorporated area of Alameda County. After a short foot pursuit, SMPD arrested three suspects. Officers did not suffer any serious injuries, and no suspects were injured.

This is an ongoing investigation, and this is all the information available at this time. more information will be provided tomorrow, March 28.
