Burglary Prevention Tips
Burglars are opportunistic and look for the easiest way in and out of homes. The more you can secure your home the less likely you are to have your home broken into. Below are a few tips to prevent burglaries.
TIPS TO PROTECT YOUR HOME AND PROPERTY:
- If possible, Install motion activated lights on the exterior of your home.
- If possible, install and always set a home alarm.
- If possible, get a dog.
- Post “Beware of Dog” signage or alarm company signage.
- Lock your doors and windows.
- Keep garage doors closed and locked.
- If gone for an extended period of time, use timers to activate lights in your home.
- Don't leave boxes from new purchases (i.e. television box, game console packaging) in plain view.
- Keep trees and shrubs trimmed to minimize ability for burglars to use them as cover.
- Know your neighbors.
- Join neighborhood watch.
- If you see suspicious activity, call 911 or (734) 994-2911.
