Flood Warning until 08:00AM Saturday

Opequon Creek near Martinsburg affecting Berkeley and Jefferson Counties The River Flood Warning continues for The Opequon Creek near Martinsburg.

* Until Saturday morning.

* At 8 PM Thursday the stage was 5.3 feet and rising.

* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.

* Minor flooding is forecast.

* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by overnight tonight and crest near 12.2 feet by early tomorrow afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage by early Saturday morning.

* Impact...At 12.5 feet, the creek is well out of its banks with lowlands nearby flooded. Golf Course Road /County Road 36/ is flooded near the Van Metre Ford Pedestrian Bridge. Fields and backyards near the creek are flooded and some residents may need to move items to higher ground. Several other roads are flooded, including Grapevine Road, Douglas Grove Road, and Paynes Ford Road. Backwater flooding is occurring on small tributaries, including Tuscarora Creek.

* Flood history...This crest compares to a previous crest of 12.9 feet on Sep 10 2018.

* AFFECTED AREAS: BERKELEY, WV ... JEFFERSON, WV
