3 Vehicle injury Crash M-60 and Wood Lake in Newberg Twp
Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that the Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a three vehicle crash involving injury. The crash occurred on 03-19-2019 at 0914 hrs, on M-60 Hwy between M-40 Hwy and Wood Lake Rd, Newberg Twp, Cass County, Michigan. Initial investigation shows a west bound Tractor-trailer struck a vehicle which was turning left in front of it. This impact pushed the turning car into oncoming traffic, striking a eastbound vehicle.
The Tractor-trailer was operated by James Motycka, 52 yrs of Vicksburg, Michigan. Motycka was not injured in the crash.
The first vehicle struck was operated by Laurene Preis, 69 yrs of Marcellus, Michigan. Preis was airlifted to Kalamazoo for injuries sustained in the crash.
The second car was operated by Jennifer Jercha, 42 yrs of Jones, Michigan. Jercha was transported by ambulance to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.
Deputies were assisted by MSP, Niles Post; Newberg Fire/Ambulance, Lifecare Ambulance, Marcellus Ambulance, Med-Flight, and Michigan DOT- Jones Post.
Alcohol/Drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash at this time. All drivers were using seatbelts and airbags/side airbags did deploy.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
