Chief Andrew Smith and the Green Bay Police department statement on the New Zealand mosque shooting.
Upon learning of the terrorist attack on the mosque in New Zealand, the Green Bay Police Department made contact with the leaders of the Green Bay Mosque. We assigned a patrol officer to provide additional security to the Mosque. Chief Andrew Smith is meeting with Islamic faith leaders and members of the mosque at their prayer service this afternoon.
“The attack on worshipers at the mosque in New Zealand was a despicable crime, perpetrated by evil people,” said Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith. “Attacking unarmed people in their place of worship is a vile act of cowardice, and we extend our deepest sympathies out to the victims and their families. We are committed to working together to prevent attacks like this from happening again.”
