The Department of Public Works would like to reiterate that residents should not put their recyclables in plastic bags for collection.
Our recycling company, Waste Management, will not pick up recyclables that have been placed in plastic bags. Please leave recycled items loose and empty in the bins.
The reason plastic bags cannot be collected is that they clog up equipment at recycling facilities that process our recyclables which causes lost production hours and money, which is a charge to the Township.
You may return plastic bags to retailers or place them in the trash bin.
These messages are a means of education to ensure your recyclables are collected and processed properly.
Additional bins can be purchased through DPW if needed. We thank you for your cooperation.
