INCIDENT:  2019-4431  Shoplifting (Tag Switching)

LOCATION OCCURRED:  Target, 500 Nassau Park Blvd.

Arrested: Colby T. Sturgis, Black male, 26 years old
                Resident of Trenton, NJ 08618
 
OFFICER:  Ptl. T. Hojnacki #590                                                       
    
DETAILS:  Ptl. Hojnacki was detailed to Target for a shoplifter being detained by store Assets Protection. Investigation determined the following: Colby Sturgis selected articles of clothing, a pillow case, and film and proceeded to the self-checkout. He used a tag for a $1 item, and scanned it twice as he passed merchandise over the checkout scanner. He then placed the items into bags and paid $2 for $120.47 worth of merchandise. Sturgis was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date at West Windsor Municipal Court.

DATE & TIME OCCURRED:  02/22/19  at  4:35 AM
 
LOCATION OCCURRED:  Residence in the Grande Preserve Development
 
OFFICER:  Ptl. C. Knox #577                            
 
DETAILS:  Ptl. Knox was detailed to a residential burglary to a house in the Grande Preserve development. Investigation determined the following: Unknown actor(s) entered the home through an unlocked rear sliding door. The resident of the home was in his basement doing some work when he heard shuffling noises above him coming from the first floor. He dismissed the noise, but when he later went upstairs he observed some drawers open and two Apple laptops missing. His sons backpack was later discovered to have also been stolen.

DETAILS:  Patrol units were detailed to Target for a shoplifter who had run from the store toward the Wegmans market. Investigation determined the following: Natqwan Cameron selected a Jetson X10 Hoverboard valued at $229.99 and carried it out of the store without paying for it. When confronted by store Assets Protection, he dropped the item and ran towards the Wegmans parking lot where he was found by Ptl. Cuomo. Cameron was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date at Mercer County Superior Court.

LOCATION OCCURRED:  Ulta Beauty, 540 Nassau Park Blvd.

DETAILS:  Ptl. LaForge was detailed to the Ulta Beauty store for the report of a shoplifting where the following occurred: Two Black females in their 40’s, who both wore pink scarves on their heads, walked around the store and concealed several bottles of designer fragrances into the handbags they were carrying. As one of the female suspects exited the store past all points of sale, an anti-theft device activated but the suspect kept walking out. Both suspects left the area in white Lincoln Navigator SUV with $1,071.00 worth of perfume.

Arrested: Michael C. Miller, Black male, 35 years old
                Resident of Brooklyn, NY 11226
 
OFFICER:  Ptl. B. Heath #5103             
 
DETAILS:  Ptl. Heath initiated a stop on a red Honda Civic for failing to display a license plate. During the stop, a South Carolina license plate was found inside the vehicle which was determined to have been stolen from Brooklyn, NY. Michael Miller who was driving back home to Brooklyn, NY also failed to register or insure the vehicle. Miller was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date at West Windsor Municipal Court.

Arrested: Jhovany A. Corrales, White male, 23 years of age
               Resident of Edison, NJ 08817
 
OFFICER:  Ptl. C. Crawford #5108       
 
DETAILS:  Ptl. Crawford initiated a stop on a black Cadillac sedan for having dark tinted front windows. During the stop, Jhovany Corrales was found to be in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. Corrales was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date at West Windsor Municipal Court.

DATE & TIME OCCURRED:  02/28/19  between 12:00 AM – 7:15 AM
 
LOCATION OCCURRED:  Residence in the Heatherfield Development
 
OFFICER:   Ptl. T. Hojnacki #590                          
 
DETAILS:   Ptl. Hojnacki investigated a residential burglary where the following was determined: Unknown actors took a patio chair and placed it under an unlocked rear kitchen window. The actor stood on the chair, opened and then climbed through the window. Once inside, cash was stolen from the victim’s wallet. A Dell Chromebook and wine ID tags were also taken but later found outside. The items had been on counters in the kitchen.

Arrested: Chelsea E. Rodgers, White female, 29 years old
                Resident of Holland, PA 18966
 
OFFICER:  Ptl. K. LaForge #5104                     
 
DETAILS:  Ptl. LaForge was detailed to Target for a shoplifter being detained by store Assets Protection. Investigation determined the following: Chelsea Rodgers selected various electronics, clothing, baby accessories, toys, food and cosmetics and proceeded to the self-checkout with her shopping cart. Using a torn price tag for an item costing $2.40, she proceeded to scan it several times while passing merchandise over the register scanner. There were also numerous items that she pretended to scan, but in reality had just passed them over the scanner. She then paid $24.15 for $556.70 worth of merchandise and attempted to leave the store. Rodgers was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date at Mercer County Superior Court.
