Armed robbery reported at Windsor sandwich shop

A Windsor sandwich store clerk was reportedly robbed at gunpoint and forced to give up cash from the register. The incident was reported on Monday night at about 6:45 PM when the clerk of the Subway sandwich shop in the 6400 block of Hembree Ave called the Sheriff’s Office to report an armed robbery.

When deputies assigned to the Windsor Police Department arrived, the 17-year-old clerk advised that a suspect came into the store, went into the bathroom for a couple of minutes then came out brandishing a handgun at him. The suspect ordered that he open the register and give him all the money. The clerk did as the suspect asked and the suspect left on foot carrying an undisclosed amount of cash.

The clerk described the suspect as a white man in his 30’s, about 5’10” tall with blonde hair wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and dark sunglasses.

Detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene and are actively investigating the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call them at 707-565-2185.
