Traffic stop leads to the arrest of two on drug charges.

On March 13, 2019, at 1:43 p.m. Deputy U.B. Smith conducted a traffic stop on a Blue 2005 Toyota minivan for failing to signal its turn onto Fifth Avenue from Broadway in Princeton. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Smith detected the odor of Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. At that point Deputy Smith began a roadside drug investigation.

At the conclusion of his investigation Deputy Smith placed the driver 26 year old Terrence Kirksey of Evansville, and a passenger 23 year old Taylor Slaton of Princeton into custody. Upon being transported to the Gibson County Jail Mr. Kirksey was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Synthetic Drug, and Obstruction of Justice. He has since posted a $750 bond. Mr. Slaton was charged with Possession of Paraphernalia with a prior and Possession of a Synthetic Drug with a prior. He has also posted a $750 bond.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
