Remembering Motor Officer George Muriset
Today we remember Pomona Police Officer George Muriset who joined the Pomona Police Department in 1950. As a young officer, his career path eventually led him to an assignment within the traffic division as a Motorcycle Officer.
After serving just four years, Motor Officer Muriset was involved in a motorcycle accident on April 6, 1954, while on patrol on Reservoir Street.
On the day of the accident, heavy fog had reduced the visibility for all motorists, when a citizen had backed out of a driveway onto Reservoir directly in the path of Officer Muriset. This caused a violent collision between the motorcycle and the vehicle, which resulted in the death of Officer Muriset days later on April 9, 1954.
The Pomona Police Department will always remember Motor Officer George Muriset.
