A San Bernardino man leads deputies on a high-speed pursuit

INCIDENT: Failure to Yield
LOCATION: State Street / Highland Avenue, San Bernardino
SUSPECT: Juan Sanchez, 40 years old, resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, March 7th at 10:20 p.m. deputies from the Central Station attempted to stop Juan Sanchez for a traffic violation. Sanchez fled, leading deputies on a pursuit with speeds over 100 mph. Sanchez stopped his vehicle in the 2100 block of Palmetto Avenue in the city of Ontario. Once Sanchez stopped, he refused to exit the vehicle and threatened to shoot himself. Members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department SWAT team responded, and after negotiating with Sanchez for over an hour, Sanchez surrendered and was arrested without incident.
Sanchez was booked at West Valley Detention Center for Evading, Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale and a Felon in Possession of Ammunition. Sanchez is on Parole and has an additional charge of a Parole Violation.
