02/03/2019 *Identity Theft
7900 Lake Shore Dr.– The victim discovered an outstanding balance when she attempted to purchase a new phone service. Someone had used the victim’s maiden name to obtain new phones and phone service. A police report was filed and the phone service is investigating.

02/03/2019 *Domestic –Intimidation
Topaz Circle – Officers responded to a call of a possible pipe bomb – the investigation revealed that the object was not a pipe bomb, but rather an unregistered firearms suppressor. The report has been turned over to the prosecutor, requesting charges.

02/04/2019 * Hit and Run
5100 Block of Pontiac Trail – The Victim reported that after getting his vehicle stuck in the ditch, a Silver SUV type vehicle driving S/E also ran off the roadway and struck the victims vehicle. The SUV then drove off, occupied by one “older” female.

**** Anyone with information regarding the crash that occurred 10:10 pm should contact the Northfield Twp Police.

02/05/2019 *Fraud –Scam
5300 Block of Whitmore Lake – The victim posted an item for sale on Craig’s list; after several conversations with an interested buyer, a payment was made for the item. The victim received a check for more than the asking price with the buyer claiming it was for shipping, the buyer then requested a return of the extra funds – once this was completed, the original check was cancelled, and no further contact could be made with the purchaser. The victim was out money.

****Never accept a check that is greater than the requested purchase price and never send money to a buyer.

02/05/2019 *Larceny of Mail
100 Block of Westbrook – A resident reported that they received tracking information that a package had been delivered at 5:02pm, when the resident arrived home at 5:15 he discovered an empty package at his door. The resident contacted Amazon who refunded him for the item – no further information was available. No suspects identified.

02/07/2019 *Larceny (theft) from Vehicle
8600 Block of S. Rushton – Victim reported that sometime during the evening (10pm 2/6/2019 and 5:30am 2/7/2019) someone entered her unlocked vehicles and removed some property. Victim stated that at approximately 11pm her rosters began crowing- which may have been the time of the theft.

02/07/2019 *Identity Theft
200 Block of Delaware – The complainant stated that he received an email from Pay Pal showing that a second address in GA was added to his account. In addition, a second debit card was requested to be sent to the new address. After the complainant advised Pay Pal he had not made these requests, Pay Pal cancelled the account, and flagged it as a fraud. The complainant closed the banking account attached to the Pay Pal account. No monetary damage was discovered at the time of the report.

02/09/2019 *Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile (Stolen Car)
Block of E Shore – The victim stated that he parked his 2009 Dodge Charger in the driveway of his residence at 10:30 pm on 02/08. The vehicle was discovered missing during the afternoon of 02/09. The investigation remains open.

02/12/2019 * Larceny of Check Book – Fraudulent Activity
9100 Block of Elizabeth –A resident reported that someone stole his check book and without authority wrote several large checks that were cashed. The victim believes the suspect is an acquaintance. The case remains under investigation.

02/13/2019 *Harassing Phone Calls
Westbrook – The complainant reported that a known person continues to call her about some property issues and although not threatening, will not leave the complainant alone. Officers contacted the subject and advised him his actions could be criminal if he continued. Both parties were advised that property disputes were civil issues, but to call if a civil standby was needed.

02/15/2019 * Harassing Phone Calls –
Officers mediated another property dispute involving several harassing phone calls. All parties agreed to stop communication.


02/16/2019 *Arrest – Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense
U.S. 23 & Barker- An Officer observed a suspected drunk driver. After observing a vehicle driving erratically, officers pulled the vehicle over to determine the driver displayed signs of intoxication. After the driver attempted the standard field sobriety tests, the officer recognized that he may be over the limit. The preliminary Breath test confirmed this and the driver was arrested. The driver refused a breath test at the station, the officers obtained a search warrant and the driver was transported to U of M where he submitted to a court ordered blood test. It was further discovered that the driver had a previous OWI. The Officer submitted a warrant request for an OWI 2nd.

02/17/2019 *Fraudulent Sale of Tractor
6900 Block of Whitmore Lake –An owner reported that while he was out of town, his tractor was sold without his permission and far below market value. The suspect is known to the owner and the company purchasing the tractor is cooperating with the investigation. The case remains under investigation.

02/18/2019 *Home Invasion
9000 Block of Forest – A resident reported that sometime between December 03, 2018 and February 17, 2019, while she was on vacation, someone entered her home and took jewelry and a firearm. There was no forced entry. The case remains under investigation

02/21/2019 *Arrest - Fugitive Warrant
9400 Block of Main St – During a civil standby, Officers determined the subject was wanted on an outstanding warrant – the subject was arrest and turned over to the jurisdiction holding the warrant.

02/22/2019 *Breaking & Entering
100 Block of Emerald Circle – The complainant stated that an unknown subject entered the office building and removed an envelope of money – nothing else appeared missing. There was no sign of forced entry and officers are awaiting a report from the alarm company. The case remains open.

02/23/2019 * Arrest - Assault & Fugitive Warrants
Glengarry –Officers received a report of an argument between known parties. When the argument escalated, the Northfield Twp Police were called. The investigation revealed the aggressor, who was arrested. The prosecutor reviewed the case and charges were authorized. In addition, the arrested had two outstanding fugitive warrants

02/24/2019 *Larceny (theft without Force) from Auto
9300 Main St –The victim reported that she parked her car on Feb 24 at 12:00am and at 1:45pm the victim discovered her vehicle had been entered and property(money, wallet & gifts) had been taken. The case remains under investigation.

02/24/2019 *Assault & Battery Investigation
7800 Block of Coyle - An investigation revealed that two parties who were known to each other; had an argument, when one of the parties physically assaulted the other. The investigation was forwarded to the prosecutor office.
