POMONA POLICE CONTINUE PUSH TO RID THE CITY OF ILLEGAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES WITH FOUR MORE SEARCH WARRANTS

NARRATIVE:
Between 02/27/19- 03/04/19, the Pomona Police Department's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) executed four more search warrants at known illegal marijuana dispensaries in an ongoing effort to completely rid the City of Pomona of these illegal businesses. The Special Investigations Unit has served more than 20 search warrants since the beginning of the year on marijuana dispensaries operating in the City of Pomona.
The four locations shut down in the last five days have been contacted numerous times by Pomona Code Inspectors in an effort to educate the owners about the violations of operating a business without a permit. These locations refused to comply with the city’s request to cease the illegal activities. Although the use of marijuana is legal in the State of California, the sales of Marijuana is illegal within city limits. These investigations are sensitive and all administrative efforts to stop the activities are exhausted before Police action is taken.
During the service of the search warrants, Police recovered in excess of 59 pounds of marijuana, 225 pounds of marijuana product, three citations and the recovery of one unregistered firearm. The criminal cases will be forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney, Pomona Office for review. As long as these illegal dispensaries are operating in the City of Pomona, the Police Department will continue their enforcement efforts until the city is clear of all these illegal businesses.
