***Snow Advisory for the Town of Yorktown***
***Roadway Conditions Deteriorating Hourly***

Yorktown Police Department and Yorktown Highway are advising all motorist to refrain from parking on town roadways so that roads can be plowed safely and effectively.  

Throughout tonight and tomorrow please DO NOT shovel or plow snow from your driveways onto the street.  Not only is this against the law, it negates work being done to clear your streets and creates an extremely hazardous condition for motorist throughout the night and morning and may cause vehicles to slide into uncoming traffic or off the roadway.

New York State Vehicle & Traffic Law
Section 1219 - Putting glass or other injurious substances on highway prohibited. (a) No person shall throw or deposit upon any highway any glass bottle, glass, nails, tacks, wire, cans, SNOW or any other substance likely to injure any person, animal, or vehicle upon such highway.

Your cooperation with these simple steps is greatly appreciated and goes a long way to helping keep you and your fellow neighbors safe during both the snow storm itself and the following day(s).
