Advisory

Winter Storm Warning until 06:00AM Monday

A fast moving disturbance has brought snow to the northern mountains and will continue to keep orographically driven snow through today into Monday morning. Snow will transition to rain during the day over lower elevations of northern New Mexico. Meanwhile, a potent backdoor cold front has brought an arctic airmass into the Northeast Plains. This has produced light snow, freezing drizzle, and freezing fog which has caused difficult driving conditions to Colfax and Union counties. Conditions here are expected to improve some by this afternoon, albeit staying very cold through today.

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 5 to 12 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

* WHERE...San Juan/Tusas Mountains, Southern Sangre de Cristos above 9500 feet and Northern Sangre de Cristos above 9500 feet including Red River.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM MST Monday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery and snow packed road conditions. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

* AFFECTED AREAS: SOUTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTOS ABOVE 9500 FEET ... NORTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTOS ABOVE 9500 FEET/RED RIVER ... SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS
