A 24-year-old motorcyclist is airlifted after crashing in the area of Loma Linda Hills

DATE/TIME:   Friday, March 1, 2019              1:45 PM

INCIDENT:     Medical Aid

LOCATION:    Loma Linda Hills

VICTIM:           24-year-old male

SUMMARY:
On Friday March 1, 2019, the crew of Sheriff’s Helicopter 40King5 was dispatched to assist Loma Linda deputies and the Colton Fire Department with the report of an off-road motorcycle crash.  The caller stated that the rider was suffering from a femur fracture and was unable to move.

40King5 arrived in the area, and quickly located the downed rider, who was with a group of other riders in an area of Loma Linda Hills and was not accessible to fire trucks and ambulances.

The crew of 40King5 performed an off-site landing and the Tactical Flight Officer/EMT made contact with the rider.  The rider was found to have deformation of his left thigh and reported losing consciousness when he crashed.  Due to his injuries and the inability to access his location from the ground, Sheriff’s Helicopter Air Rescue 307 responded to assist.

Once AR307 arrived, the rider was given additional medical attention on the ground, loaded into a stokes basket, and flown to Loma Linda Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
