The Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) is a proactive street enforcement unit consisting of primarily Pomona Police Officers, but is also supported by the California Highway Patrol’s Baldwin Park Office. The Major Crimes Task Force takes a tough stance of crime and those who commit violent acts.
On February 27, 2019, at approximately 6:29 P.M., the Major Crimes Task Force was conducting high visibility patrol in the area of Sixth and Linden Street. MCTF officers spotted Giovanni Rodriguez inside of the rear seat of a vehicle with its door open. MCTF officers recognized Rodriguez from prior arrest and knew that he was a convicted felon on Post Release Community Supervision. During the investigation they discovered that Rodriguez was in possession of a loaded firearm. Based on the circumstances and evidence found, Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Pomona City jail.
