Primary Law Enforcement Jurisdiction of Home Place Changes on March 1, 2019

Effective at midnight tonight, Thursday, February 28, 2019, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office will relinquish primary law enforcement responsibility of the Home Place area to the Carmel Police Department. This includes the areas of old Home Place. College Meadows, and Lexington Farms generally bounded by 96th Street to the South, Westfield Boulevard on the east, 111th Street to the north, and Pennsylvania Avenue on the west, in the southern portion of the county.

The City of Carmel officially annexed the Home Place area in 2018 but the Sheriff’s Office retained primary responsibility during the transition. March 1, 2019 marks the end of the transition so those residents affected by the annexation will see Carmel Police responding as the primary law enforcement agency for both emergency and non-emergency incidents.

Requests for information and general assistance in the area should be addressed to the Carmel Police Department beginning on March 1. As with all incorporated areas, the Sheriff’s Office will maintain a presence.
