The Simi Valley Police Department's Traffic Unit is investigating a Fatal Traffic Accident.

Further investigation revealed the male subject killed in the traffic collision was 47-year-old, Gerald Munyon Jr. Munyon was homeless and resided in Simi Valley for several years.

On February 22, 2019, at approximately 0610 hours, the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the rear alley of 1470 E. Los Angeles Avenue regarding a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. Unfortunately, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed the driver was traveling southbound through the alleyway, and while traversing around a corner, struck the subject who was lying in the middle of the alleyway.
The subject was a known homeless person who frequented the area. The subject's name is being withheld until the coroner is able to locate the next of kin. He is described as a white male adult, 47 years old. The driver is being fully cooperative with the investigation. Anyone who possibly witnessed the collision is being asked to call the Simi Valley Police Department's Traffic Bureau (805) 583-6950.
