INCIDENT: Death Investigation/Elder Abuse

LOCATION: 15450 Nisqualli Rd., Victorville

SUSPECT: Patricia Jones, 62 years old, resident of Victorville

VICTIM: John Tucker, 80 years old, resident of Victorville


SUMMARY:
On Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 2:49 p.m. fire personnel requested assistance at the Mountain Vista Apartment complex for a medical aid call. The caller said the 80-year-old victim was unresponsive. When deputies and medical aid arrived, the victim was found in the bathroom and was pronounced deceased. Deputies and medical personnel noted injuries on the victim and called for Specialized Investigators to conduct the investigation.

Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division responded and are conducting the investigation. Detectives learned that Patricia Jones is the victim’s girlfriend and full-time caregiver, and was the only person caring for him in recent weeks.

After processing the scene and conducting interviews, Detectives arrested Patricia Jones for Elder Abuse. Jones was booked at West Valley Detention Center and is being held on $50,000 bail. She is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday, February 26th in Victorville Superior Court.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available for release at this time.
