South Brunswick Office of Emergency Management has received the latest forecast for tomorrow’s winter weather. Indications are the timing of the snowfall will make this a high impact event. The snowfall will develop rapidly around mid-day. The snow will make for difficult afternoon commute and extra caution will be needed.

It is anticipated that many events, meetings, and or after school activities may be cancelled Wednesday afternoon. Some schools may even call for an early release.
 
Forecast as of 3pm Tuesday -
The system still remains on track to bring 2 - 4" of dense snow and sleet to the South Brunswick community tomorrow. A dense, plowable accumulation is likely in most areas regardless of the exact total. Snow develops tomorrow around midday, generally 10 AM to 1 PM and becomes steady shortly thereafter.

Despite the midday arrival, moderate to even heavy intensity should help pavements cover. Snow will continue through the afternoon tomorrow before mixing with, then changing to ice pellets / sleet, between 4 - 7 PM. Subsequently we change over to an extended period of freezing rain.

A coating to 0.10" of icing still looks likely before temperatures gradually climb above freezing 11 PM - 2 AM.

Route 27 has been reopened in both directions at the Princeton border. The crash involving a tractor trailer and a traffic signal forced the closure of the highway for most of the afternoon. The tractor trailer driver was issued numerous summonses.
