Suspect(s): Ruben Angel-Sepulveda, a 32-year-old Santa Rosa resident
Petaluma Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a bystander report of a driver passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle, which was blocking the northbound on-ramp to Highway 101 from Lakeville Highway. Petaluma Fire arrived first and transported the driver, Ruben Angel-Sepulveda, to Petaluma Valley Hospital for evaluation. Officers contacted him at the hospital.
Upon contacting Angel-Sepulveda, officers noticed he displayed signs of suspected alcohol impairment, and he admitted to drinking one beer. A DUI investigation was initiated, and he was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI. His blood alcohol concentration was found to be over twice the legal limit of .08%.
Petaluma Police remind people to drink responsibly and use alternative forms of transportation, such as public transportation or ride-sharing services, as the average DUI will cost over $10,000.00 and result in a suspended driving privilege and increased insurance premiums.
