Former Deputy Arrested For Theft After Being Arrested For Fraudulent Actions Last Year. SHERIFF VICTOR HILL
Former Clayton County Deputy Edward Hobbs turned himself in last night on theft related and violation of oath charges last night. Hobbs who resigned last year, failed to turn in a computer and cell phone that he confiscated from a suspect over a year ago. The computer was found at the residence of the former Deputy.
Last year, Hobbs was arrested for insurance fraud and forgery. After a woman hit Hobbs in the rear of an assigned unmarked sheriff’s car, no damage was found on either vehicle and both Hobbs and the woman stated they were not hurt. Hobbs later went to the hospital and did not report this to the sheriff’s office. Hobbs contacted the lady’s insurance company and made a false clam by forging a letter from his supervisor stating he was out of work for a time period that he was actually working and received compensation.
All of the arrest cases made by former Deputy Hobbs are now being reviewed by both the Sheriff’s and DA’s office.
